It seems to me that the "obviously suspect" birth dates for Robert and James in Freeman's Chart indicate that there might have been a Robert b. c1610 with a son Robert b. c1650 with a son James b 1679. In sum, I end up feeling that the 1679 birth date cited for James by McGregor is correct and that his father was a Robert Walker b. c1650. This appears to be supported by Freeman's indication that Robert, father of James, was involved in the 1688/9 siege of Londonderry. As the overall result I have: used McGregor's 1679 date-of-birth for James; recorded his father's, Robert's, date of birth as c1650; and NOT recorded a possible Robert father for Robert (grandfather of James).²
