1. Eldridge Lafayette Ewing {46} was born 25 Dec 1838 in Wilson County, Tennessee. He was the son of James Ewing {31} and Malinda Bellah {44}. Eldridge died 1 Feb 1896 in Hunt County, Texas, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. He was a mason. He married Nancy Foster {1324} 12 Dec 1875 in Hunt County, Texas. She was born 11 May 1849. She was the daughter of Andrew J Foster {2824} and Martha E [———?———] {2825}. Nancy died 5 Aug 1900 in Hunt County, Texas, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas.

2. i. Charles A Ewing {1325}, born 21 Dec 1877. He married Ida Calvert {1331} 3 Mar 1912. Charles died 29 Mar 1915.
3. ii. Eva T Ewing {1326}, born 2 Dec 1879. She married Charles Caviness {1332} 3 Mar 1912. He was born 20 Sep 1889. Eva died 14 Apr 1939 in Hunt County, Texas, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas.
4. iii. James Burley Ewing {1327}, born 19 Dec 1881. He married Clara Townsend {1333} 10 Jun 1909. James died 2 Dec 1967 in Hunt County, Texas, and was buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville, Texas.

6. v. Anna B Ewing {1329}, born 18 Feb 1886, died in infancy 27 Sep 1887, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery Greenville, Texas.

By March 1867, it appears that the estate of James Ewing was about settled. Some of the land in James’ estate was purchased by Tennessee Ann, Eldridge Lafayette, and Randall Bransford Ewing.
On 6 September 1867, E. L. Ewing and R. B. Ewing purchased two tracts of land each containing sixty eight acres paying $3000, $1800 cash and a note for $1200 due 1 January 1869. (Wilson County, Tennessee Deed Book F-2, page 489.) Purtle Creek ran through the eastern portion of that land. Deeds that pertain to those two tracts of land gives us some clues as to when some events may have taken place and what events were involved.
On 18 January 1870, Eldridge purchased his brother’s, Randall’s, interest in those two tracts of land for $1550, $850 Cash, $400 note due 1 Jan 1871, and a note of $300 due 1 Jan 1872. (Wilson County, Tennessee Deed Book H-2, page 22.)
On 20 November 1871, Eldridge sold a portion, sixty and one-half acres, of the two tracts of land to Willie T. Jennings for $1200 cash and $800 in two payments of $400 one due Jan 1873 and the second due Jan 1874. (Wilson County Deed Book J-2, page 179)
In January 1877, it appears that Eldridge may be getting ready to move to Texas. He had gotten married in 1875. On 11 January 1877, he sells 20 acres 6 rods, and 7 poles of land to Levi and N. W. Foutch for $790.15, Cash $400 with the balance of $390.15 due by 25 Dec 1877.
On 22 January 1877, he sells the last portion of the two tracts of land to his mother, Malinda Ewing, for $1100 cash. None of the deeds mentions a house or any other kind of buildings. But, since this piece of property is the last that he sold, does it indicate, maybe, that this is the piece of land he lived on. If so, it could indicate that Malinda spent her remaining years on this property.
One tract measured 113 by 95 poles and the second tract measured 115 by 95 poles and both were indicated as containing 68 acres. Based on the measurements, the acreage or the measurement for one tract is off by a small amount. Looking at all of the descriptions for several deeds associated with these two tracts of land, we noticed 3 or 4 small differences which keeps the drawing from coming out exactly. However, we can tell what happened to the land.

7. Eula Fay Ewing {1330} was born 19 May 1888 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. She was the daughter of Eldridge Lafayette Ewing {46} and Nancy Foster {1324}. Eula died 18 Dec 1967 in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico, and was buried in Melrose, New Mexico, Melrose Cemetery. She married James Anson Willoughby {1362} 1 Jan 1911 in Greenville, Texas. He was born 22 Sep 1887 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. He was the son of Jacob Anson Willoughby {1374} and Eliza Frances Ford {1371}. James died 13 Sep 1977 in Curry County, New Mexico, and was buried in the Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, Curry County, New Mexico. Return to parents

Alma married (2) Louis Evans Countess {1370} 25 Mar 1960 in Chavez County, New Mexico. He was born 29 Nov 1916 in Rogers, Bell County, Texas. Alma had no children by either of her marriages.
14. iii. Jacob Nolan Willoughby {1365}, born 25 Nov 1915 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, died 19 May 1942 in a prison camp on Luzon Island, The Phillipines, and was buried in a National Cemetery in Manila, The Phillipines.

She married James Earl Creel {1339} 9 Jun 1932. He was born 31 Jan 1908 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. He was the son of J J Creel {2828} and Carrie Lee Crenshaw {2829}. James died 26 Feb 1945 in Germany, and was buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas.
