Chancellorsville and Gettysburg saw him in action, and on May 8, 1864, he was wounded at Spotsylvania Court House, and rejoined his regiment on the 6th of the following August before Petersburg. On September, 1864, he became a sergeant, and received an honorable discharge at the close of the war with this rank."²

He also is a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Union Veteran Legion.
