- ResearchNote: Research Note: The 29 Jul 1864 birth date for the first child (Nora) of John and Ann Eliza (Ewing) McMichael is inconsistent with 24 Sep 1864 being their marriage date.
- ResearchNote: Research Note: In the 1850 Census, John and Leah (Ewing) McMichael are shown living with their children Isaac, John and Sarah Ann. In the 1860 Census, neither the parents nor Isaac can be found (in Allegheny Co) and John appears living with his sister, Sarah Ann. One possibility is that Isaac married and moved out of the area, with his parents moving with him. It seems unlikely, however, that they would leave a son aged 18 and a daughter aged 15 behind and "on their own". So, it's assumed that John and Leah (Ewing) McMichael and their son died between 1850 and 1860. Further, it's noted that this probably happened close to 1860 since, otherwise, some sort of guardianship arrangement would have been made.3
- ResearchNote: Research Note: The 1860 Census shows John Young (19) living with John McMichael.6
